Addi's NEW daddy!

A couple of weeks ago, I was driving Addison to daycare. She suddenly starts saying, "daddy, daddy, daddy" and I was trying to figure out why. That's when I realized. . . .the man in front of us- the black man in his 30's on a motorcycle with no helmet and a nice suit- Addison thought he was her daddy.
Now before you think Addison is crazy, here is the thing. Most Sundays, Steve likes to ride his motorcycle over to my parent's house. We follow in the car, and I try to entertain Addison by saying, "look it's daddy!" etc. the whole way. We wave to him, and he waves to us. So, I guess every man on a motorcycle is now Addison's new daddy! :)

Tick-riffic!

Okay, it was completely the OPPOSITE of tick-riffic, but I'm trying to be cute instead of conveying how much of a failure I felt. Addison got her first tick this last week. I felt terrible! I really felt like I let her down. At some point on Wednesday she got the tick. I didn't give her a bath Wednesday night, because we were at Scout's and didn't get home till 8:45. She was SO exhausted, I just let her go to bed.
She woke up at 3a.m. with a 104* fever! We gave her tylenol, and she was waking up/going to sleep for a couple of hours. I put in an absence at work and discovered the tick while cuddling with Addi in the morning. Steve used tweezers to get it out, and then he and I went back and forth on whether or not it was really a tick (it was very small and I couldn't see a mouth or feet)
Good news: the doctor said that her illness was a virus and that you can't get sick that quickly from a tick. Bad news: Addison had a virus. So, at this point, we are just trying to get over the virus, and we are supposed to keep an eye out on her until next Thursday to make sure she doesn't get Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Doc says she doesn't show any symptons so far; we just get scared as her parents because my former Middle School Principal died last year from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever! Sorry Addi that I didn't catch the tick sooner! I love you!

Door!

Addison LOVES being outside, so she has now learned a new trick. She will bring me her shoe and will say "uh, uh" until I put her shoe on. She will find another shoe (whether it matches or not) and will get me to put that shoe on. She will then go over to the door and will say, "door, door!" It's pretty cute. I've been trying to let her go outside and walk around. We've also started going for family walks again (since it has finally started cooling down!) and playing on our playground. Addison now can appreciate the slide (before she had no reaction to going down the slide) and smiles and laughs as we slide down. We sure our enjoying Addison at this fun age!
