Okay, it was completely the OPPOSITE of tick-riffic, but I'm trying to be cute instead of conveying how much of a failure I felt. Addison got her first tick this last week. I felt terrible! I really felt like I let her down. At some point on Wednesday she got the tick. I didn't give her a bath Wednesday night, because we were at Scout's and didn't get home till 8:45. She was SO exhausted, I just let her go to bed.
She woke up at 3a.m. with a 104* fever! We gave her tylenol, and she was waking up/going to sleep for a couple of hours. I put in an absence at work and discovered the tick while cuddling with Addi in the morning. Steve used tweezers to get it out, and then he and I went back and forth on whether or not it was really a tick (it was very small and I couldn't see a mouth or feet)
Good news: the doctor said that her illness was a virus and that you can't get sick that quickly from a tick. Bad news: Addison had a virus. So, at this point, we are just trying to get over the virus, and we are supposed to keep an eye out on her until next Thursday to make sure she doesn't get Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Doc says she doesn't show any symptons so far; we just get scared as her parents because my former Middle School Principal died last year from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever! Sorry Addi that I didn't catch the tick sooner! I love you!
