I NEVER thought I would make homemade baby food. I seriously didn't. But, when I decided it was time to go ahead and start feeding Addison food (other than breastmilk) I just kept thinking about how breastmilk is the best food for her, so why was I suddenly start giving her food with preservatives etc. in it? Plus, it's no secret that I have been struggling with my weight my entire life, and I want to do everything in my power to help her to live a healthy, happy life.
So, today was my first day in making homemade baby food. I went to Akins and got a yam, green beans, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini. I also invested $20 in getting a steamer to keep the veggies nice and healthy. It was a lot of fun. I have been chopping veggies and putting them in the food processor and putting them in ice trays to freeze.
So for dinner, Addison had yams and some rice cereal. The yams weren't a huge hit, but I found that if I mixed a little bit of rice cereal in with the yams she liked it a lot better. I'm going to keep working with the yams though. The reading I've done says it can take them up to 10 times trying a food before they learn to like it.
